Abstract
The rare and interesting curimatid fish Curimatopsis microlepis Eigenmann & Eigenmann, 1889 (Teleostei: Characiformes), the generic attribution of which is provisional, has been rediscovered recently in the Rio Purus region, Brazil by Heiko Bleher. The recent specimens are described; characteristics such as the squamation and the colour, until now poorly known or not known at all, are given. Its type locality, Jatuarana, as well as some other localities of the Thayer Expedition in Brazil in 1865 and 1866, are discussed and corrected. Faunal lists of these stations and a study of the faunal similarity are reported.
